1. Divorce in 16th Century France
Nowadays, you can file a divorce in almost any place and the court will grant it but it wasn’t this easy back in the day. Women weren’t having it in 16th century France–it just wasn’t easy to get divorced! So, an interesting tactic would be to accuse their husbands of being impotent which would serve as a valid reason for divorce. The funny part is that the convicted husbands would have to ejaculate in public to prove their wives wrong. If they proved their potency, they embarrassed themselves in public, and if they weren’t able to prove it, they got divorced. Talk about a lose-lose situation.

2. No Lipstick Allowed
In 1770, lipstick was all the rage and women began wearing it all the time. This seemingly insignificant use of makeup led to many men getting distracted, which was then seen as a work of witchcraft. The townsmen decided that since wearing lipstick was obviously a clever way of practicing witchcraft, it ought to be banned and so, they introduced a bill in the British Parliament that stated that women ought to be punished for wearing lipstick.

3. Curvy Women
Over the years, trends change, and apparently, women's preferred body types have been in and out just like any other trend. Back in the 1940s, women with fuller chests and hips were considered the epitome of beauty and hence, all the advertisements were centered on that. In the United States of America, advertisements for weight gain products would often host scripts such as “men wouldn’t look at me when I was skinny” and “since I gained 10 pounds this new, easy way, I have all the dates I want!”
